Sunday, June 13, Third Sunday After Pentecost
Keep, O Lord, your household the Church in your steadfast faith and love, that through your grace we may proclaim your truth with boldness, and minister your justice with compassion; for the sake of our Savior Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Sunday, June 13 is the Third Sunday after Pentecost. Find the readings here.
Dear Friends,

This week we welcome guest speaker and parishioner Sarah Larson. She writes: Sarah Larson keeps showing up, like a bad penny. First a member of St. John’s from 2012, to 2014, she moved back to Northern Virginia for knee surgery. Then back to Cape Ann and St. John’s in 2016, only to return to Virginia in 2017 to care for her 90+ parents for almost 4 years. They died within months of each other in 2019 and 2020 and Sarah has been hanging out in Hartford CT, trying to get back to Gloucester. Thanks to the vaccine, Sarah was able to find a roommate and will be moving back permanently at the end of July. She credits singing online with the St. John’s choir and Thursday night Choir Zoom for keeping her at least marginally sane during lockdown.
From Mark Nelson: We had our final chorister in person rehearsal of this academic year this past Thursday. We managed to get one more song recorded! You’ll hear it following Sarah’s talk. Our opening hymn, #525, is the very first Acapella App hymn we produced, with Carol McKenzie supplying the soprano voice and David Oliver and I supplying the rest of the voices. Thanks to Paul McGeary for reading lessons. I hope and pray that our COVID numbers continue to decline and that by the fall we may return to something resembling normality, at least, music wise.
Upcoming: tomorrow I will be attending a virtual conference for the Association of Anglican Musicians (AAM) and the final Evensong can be viewed by anyone at 4:45 pm here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LKW9qew6uwM I hope you can join us. Several weeks ago all 12 Episcopal Cathedrals joined for a virtual concert on Trinity Sunday. There is a little something for everyone! I hope you'll give a listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCtsSgnn6BU
