Sunday, October 10, Twentieth Sunday After Pentecost

Lord, we pray that your grace may always precede and follow us, that we may continually be given to good works; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Sunday, October 10 is the Twentieth Sunday after Pentecost. Find the readings here.

Please join us at St. John's Church for one of two in-person services at 8:00 am and 10:30 am. We will try to stream the service live on our Facebook page. If you follow us on Facebook and are logged in around 9am, you should be able to see it. Also, the service will be posted on our Youtube channel by the early afternoon.

You can watch last week's service here.

Forum Time: Let’s Chat! Today (Sunday) between services (9:15 to 10:15), come to have a conversation with Pastor Lise. Who are you? What is your spiritual hunger? How has Covid changed you/the church? All are welcome!

Contacting Pastor Lise: Pastor Lise (aka Lise) can be reached at lise@stjohnsgloucester.org. She has a church cell phone of 351-217-9209. Please use these to contact her.

Clean Air: The leadership is looking into an air purification system, so that we can continue to meet inside during winter months. Stay tuned!

Next Sunday, October 17: One service at 9 followed by a Parish Meeting followed by reception for Mark! The parish meeting (in person and on Zoom) will vote on a by-law change to allow the officers to serve up to 6 one-year terms, hence the Wardens and Treasurer could continue serving during this period of transition. Come and vote and . . . Stay to honor Mark! Celebrate Mark Nelson’s 20 years of service to St. John’s in the parish hall, with cake, goodies, and toasts. As music director, choir leader, organist and composer, he has shared his many talents with the community. Please join us to show him our thanks!

Next vestry meeting Tuesday October 19 at 7 pm, stay tuned for location.

Shrine Workshop Postponed. If you would like to bring a shrine to the church on All Saints’ Sunday (Nov 7) you are more than welcome to.

Stewardhips/Pledge Drive Coming: This year will be a chance to reflect on “What is great?” “What has changed?” “What is God up to?” through this time of pandemic and change at St. John’s. October 24 to November 14 (in-gathering Sunday). Stay tuned!

Action Lunches: Volunteers are needed for dates in October. There is a signup sheet in the Parish Hall or contact Carolyn Stewart at 978-314-1381.

Updated Covid Instructions: Masks are required for all indoor activities, and we are to keep distanced (>=6 ft) from other households. Please wear your mask over both mouth and nose.
