The Open Door is a non-profit organization that runs several feeding programs for Cape Ann, including a food pantry, which St. John’s contributes to on a weekly basis by collecting food donations during the Sunday Eucharists. We also participate in the Open Door dinners. We are one of many area churches and civic groups that volunteer to supply the ingredients for a nourishing hot dinner, cook it and serve it to any and all who come in search of a good, nutritious meal and fellowship. St. John’s does this six times a year. Volunteers to cook and serve at the meals are always needed. Usually, when it is St. John’s turn, two or three people volunteer to cook and five or six volunteer to serve the guests and clean up. The Open Door dinners are coordinated with the Harvest Meals program, which serves dinners on the nights when the Open Door does not, so that there is always, every night, a good dinner available to anyone who needs it on Cape Ann.
