"Nurture and Challenge Your Spirit"

Church School teachers honored

On Sunday, May 4, we honored the people who have worked all year with our children in church school. Martha Whitney and Melanie Murray-Brown, our lead teachers, have maintained classrooms for children from ages three years to high school. Both have been teaching for many years and continue to present fresh, new lessons offering the gift of the holy spirit in warm, friendly classrooms.
Assisting through the year was Naomi Astyk. Naomi has now completed a certificate program in Godly Play. She will be taking the lead next year in Atrium II. Welcome, Naomi!
Bob Willcutt worked with us on two occasions. Who can forget Bob's portrayal of Isaiah last December? He had us all mesmerized. Bob also baked bread for the Eucharist this spring. Every child had a chance to mix, knead, roll, and mark their piece with a cross. This bread is now being used for the Eucharist on Sundays.
Hannah LaBelle has handily maintained our nursery for our littlest children. Along with caring for the children, she brought great cheer to the nursery by decorating the walls with lovely art work. Hannah completes her work with us this summer and heads off to college in the fall. We are sad to see her go but she looks forward to a rich, rewarding college life studying veterinary science. We all wish her well. Congratulations Hannah, on a job well done.
Fiona Prentice volunteered to help out on many occasions in the nursery and Atrium I. She has taken it upon herself to ask if she could help out. Good work, Fiona!
One of our biggest art projects was making Noah's Ark with Susie Field and Bob Heineman. The ark is still up in Atrium II. It is many cubits long! Please stop by to see it if you have not already done so.
We had a great year with a varied curriculum with lots of activity and also time for contemplative prayer. Bravo and sincere thanks to all who have helped.
Our last day of church school will be May 18. If anyone is interested in working with children in the next year please let me know.
